MP sees new Stirlingshire Crematorium
Stirling MP Stephen Kerr has welcomed the opening of the Stirlingshire Crematorium, in a visit to the Bannockburn premises.
The crematorium, operated by Westerleigh, opened earlier this year on the site of the Bannockburn Hospital.
Westerleigh Group are the UKs largest operators of Crematoriums, dealing with over 30,000 services a year. In the UK Cremations account for three quarters of all funerals.
Stephen was given a tour of the facilities and the carefully designed grounds located on the site. The oak lined chapel has capacity for two hundred to attend a service. Having a crematorium in Stirling has cut travel times for many people as the nearest previous locations were at Camelon or Perth.
Stephen Kerr MP said:
It was a pleasure to meet Rachel, Lawrence, and Donnie and be given an insight into the way services are conducted in a very professional and caring manner. Having to say goodbye to a loved one is something none of us want to think about. However we can all appreciate how important it is to have a suitable , discreet , location available. I was very impressed by the facilities and the grounds.
Donnie Connor, Manager of Stirlingshire Crematorium, said:
“Thanks a lot to Stephen for coming out to see our setup. We are seeking to provide an appropriate service to the people of Stirling from a central, easy to access location.”
