Inspector praises Stirlingshire Crematorium team
The team at Stirlingshire Crematorium has been highly praised by a regulatory inspector for providing a “first-class service to the local community and beyond.”
Robert Swanson QPM, Senior Inspector of Burial, Cremation and Funeral Directors (Scotland), said: “The Cremation Authority are fortunate to have such an enthusiastic, dedicated and professional team at Stirlingshire Crematorium, working under the direction of experienced management.
“There is a noted good working relationship between all team members.”
He also found: “The Stirlingshire Crematorium Management Plan was found to be of a high standard, incorporating a great deal more than required under the Regulations.”
The thorough inspection included an examination of the site and its facilities, office management and administration procedures, and the cremation process.
The inspector found all processes and procedures were carried out to a high standard, all private and public areas were clean, tidy and in good repair, and the gardens and grounds were well maintained.
He found all documentation and records that were examined were found to be in order and that there were “a number of in-built safeguards to minimise the risk of human error.”
Stirlingshire Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.
Westerleigh Group prides itself on providing exceptional care to the bereaved, the standards of which are regularly inspected by the Scottish Government and the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA) in England and Wales.
Donnie Connor, Westerleigh Group’s Divisional Operations Manager who is also at the helm of Stirlingshire Crematorium, said: “I am proud of everyone involved in the running of Stirlingshire Crematorium, to have earned such a positive inspection report.
“It’s heartening to read the positive comments the inspector made about the Stirlingshire Crematorium team and that our core value of exceptional care is visible in everything that we do.
“This report provides an external seal of approval to the members of our local communities that they can trust us to provide the very highest levels of care and service when looking after them and their loved ones.
“We take tremendous pride in supporting the bereaved, helping them to say a final farewell to their loved ones in uniquely personal ways and assisting them in memorialising those loved ones in the longer-term.
“We are also very fortunate to work with excellent Funeral Directors, clergy, and officiants who all share and uphold the same values that we do.”
Ed Lane, Operations Director for Westerleigh Group, added: “Congratulations to the whole Stirlingshire Crematorium team for earning such an excellent report from the inspector; I say ‘earning’ because I know the team works hard to provide the highest levels of service.
“Stirlingshire Crematorium marks its fifth anniversary this year, and this report from the inspector is the best gift we could have wished for.
“Anyone – bereaved or not - who has not yet visited our crematorium, please do come along to our community open day on Saturday 1 June between 10am and 1pm.
“The free event will enable everyone to come and explore all parts of our beautiful site, including the crematory if they wish, and meet the team that we are all so proud of.”
